Many countries in the European Union are finally lifting restrictions, with some of them having already announced a re-opening date.
Greece has declared that from May 14th 2021, the government plans to welcome back non-EU travellers with a negative PCR test or a full vaccine. While other Mediterranean countries are yet to announce their re-opening dates, the European Union has published a very useful tool to check out what obligations travellers must respect before reaching a country in the EU. For more information, please visit RE-OPEN EU or contact us for more detailed information.
So, why should you book your yacht charter now even before knowing if the country's border will reopen? Yacht charters have proven to be one of the safest ways to travel in 2020. Since the pandemic hit, we have seen a +70% increase on yacht charter enquiries and for our clients who booked late, we couldn't provide the best yacht available, as most yachts were fully booked.

The point is that uncertainty will always be part of any decision. Opting to wait until last minute will not increase your chances of actually making the trip happen, rather the contrary, as someone else might have just booked your favourite yacht, before you did.
So, how are you supposed to book with confidence?
Covid-19 special contract clauses
Your charter broker can help you navigate the complicated clauses of the standard contracts used and help you find yachts with flexible cancellation policies related to Covid-19. Many yacht owners have adapted to this new scenario, with many of them offering a free cancellation up to 14 days before boarding.
Pick a destination with no entrance restrictions or postpone your charter to later dates.
Choosing a destination that has already announced its reopening is a good choice, if you want that extra security. A luxury yacht charter in Greece is a great option at the moment, as the country has already announces its reopening. If you don't want to risk by booking a country that hasn't officially allowed leisure travel, try booking a yacht charter for September 2021, you will probably save by paying a "low season" rate and get more time to see how the Covid situation evolves.
